SAD AND STRESS HARMONES

  1. Serotonin: Often called the “feel-good” neurotransmitter, low levels of serotonin are linked to feelings of sadness, anxiety, and depression.
  2. Dopamine: This is associated with feelings of pleasure and reward. Low dopamine levels can lead to a lack of motivation, feelings of apathy, and sadness.
  3. Cortisol: Known as the “stress hormone,” high levels of cortisol over time can lead to emotional exhaustion and feelings of sadness.
  4. Norepinephrine: This neurotransmitter is involved in stress and arousal. Low levels can make you feel lethargic, sad, or even hopeless.
  5. Oxytocin: Often called the “love hormone,” oxytocin plays a role in bonding and social interactions. Lower oxytocin levels might contribute to feelings of loneliness or sadness.

These hormones work together, and imbalances can affect how we feel emotionally.
